You don’t need to have everything figured out to start getting better with money.

Let’s go through the exercises before you get going.

Figure out what kind of ‘money person’ you really are

Check in on your current habits by rating yourself on consistency, check-ins, confidence and automation.

This isn’t about getting it perfect. It’s a no-judgement space to see where you are now and where you can improve. Even a low score simply gives you a place to start.

Spot the habit loops that trip you up

We all have money habits we fall into without thinking. Like spending money on online shopping when we’re bored or avoiding our bank app when things feel tight.

This step helps you see what sets a habit in motion, why you’re reaching for it, and how to replace it with a more effective behaviour.

Build new habit loops that actually support your goals

Once you know what’s been getting in the way, you can start building habits that work better for you.

Now think of one small thing you could add to your money routine. It could help you start a new habit or change one that’s not working for you.

Not sure where to start? Here are some simple systems to try:

✔️ Do a quick money check-in after payday
✔️ Set a 5-minute Sunday money review
✔️ Turn off all app notifications except your bank app
✔️ Save 10% as soon as you get paid, before spending anything
✔️ Make a private WhatsApp group called “Wishlist” and add any impulse buys to review later

Pick one or two that feel simple enough to try today.

This tool is also used in the Financial Freedom Programme, where we help teams stress less about money and build smarter systems.
