Culture Spotlight: Our fully remote year-end function
No one likes boring company year-end; forced to sit there waiting for things to end so that you can be that much closer to your holiday. No thanks.
We wanted to do something different this year that reflects our culture and intentionality. We also decided to share what we did with you so that you can have a behind-the-scenes look at how we do things and get a better sense of who we are.
We are a fully remote business, with our team located across South Africa, the UK and South Korea. So we've learned just how important it is to communicate deliberately within our business.
Even though we couldn't all be in the same room, we still needed the space and opportunity to share and connect with one another on a deeper level. We're all human, after all.
"Emotionally connected Teams can be vulnerable with one another because there is a baseline of safety and trust in the relationship. This means they're more willing to share that crazy idea or push back when they see something that they don't agree with."
- Jesse James Garrett, Chief Creative Officer at Adaptive Path
That brings me to our year-end event. Our last virtual get-together of the year. We saw this as the perfect opportunity to connect with intention and inspire each other for the coming year.
Each member of the team prepared a short reflection on the year. We all shared our personal and business wins, lows, and goals for next year. When we reflect, it takes us out of autopilot and helps us to think about our progress throughout the year and celebrate it with each other.
Quite often, we are taken aback by the team and culture here at Wealthbit. However, what the team shared showed, once again, how aligned and connected we are to our purpose. To change the lives of 1 billion people by empowering them to reach financial freedom.
Here are some of the insights that came out of our year-end.
This year had a lot of ups and downs. As does every year. Overall the team felt a sense of personal progression and achievement. From individual projects coming to fruition, building good habits and structures for health and family, buying a home, moving across the country, and even welcoming our first Wealthbit baby to the family.
The time together was a good reminder of the important areas of life. It also reminded us that if those areas of life are order then it's easier to deal with the everyday stresses that come our way.
As for our business highs, even if we say so ourselves, we are pretty chuffed with what we achieved this year. We've released key features that changed our platform, hired developers, and we also doubled our client base. We were also blown away by the success of our first in-person event, followed by two webinars.
The team's personal goals for 2023 primarily focus on building intentional relationships. The team also aims to focus on health and energy, learn and grow, and create a sustainable work-life balance. We want to bring our best selves to the business and our personal lives.
Our unanimous goal for Wealthbit was to pour everything into growing our business to continue changing as many lives as possible.
We must get in front of more clients to create the change in the world that we want to see - Alex, CEO of Wealthbit
Thank you to every one of our clients for your support and for being on this journey with us. If this is what we achieved in a year, we cannot contain our excitement for what the next year will bring.
